Day 1, Thursday - Miami/Panama City
Depart Miami for Panama City. On arrival, transfer to hotel.
Day 2, Friday - Panama City
Visit the historic cities of Old Panama and Casco Viejo. Lunch at the Amador Causeway, overlooking the north entrance to the Panama Canal and the skyline of Panama City. Afternoon, tour the Panama Canal's Miraflores locks and its visitors' center. Visit a local handicraft market. (B/L)
Day 3, Saturday - Panama Canal Transit
The tour highlight is today's partial Panama Canal crossing. Drive to Dredging Division at Gamboa, board a boat, enter Gailard cut, view the new Centennial Bridge and enter Pedro Miguel Locks. Sail to Miraflores Lake and to the final set of locks before the Pacific, where you pass under Bridge of the Americas and admire the Bay of Panama and Panama City skyline, before disembarking at Flamenco. Day 4, Sunday - Gamboa Rainforest
Travel by land to the Gamboa Rainforest, where you take optional tours for birdwatching, wildlife safari, canopy aerial tram and fauna and flora exhibits at the resort. Overnight at resort. (Gamboa Rainforest Resort) (B)
Day 5, Monday - Embera Indigenous Village
Travel upriver into dense jungles of Chagres via a one-hour canoe ride. Cross Lake Alajuela and arrive at a village where indigenous Embera Indians have lived for centuries. Greeted by villagers, you are immersed in ancient Embera dances and music. See a variety of birds and wildlife and pass sparkling waterfalls. Watch Embera women create palm-leaf baskets, and enjoy a traditional meal of fresh fish and plantains. (B/L)
Day 6, Tuesday - Panama City/Miami
Transfer to airport for your return flight i. (B)
